Top 5 Off-Road Enduro and Dual-Sport Boots: A Comprehensive List

Introduction

Finding the right off-road enduro and dual-sport boots can be a daunting task due to the myriad of options available on the market. Quality boots are essential not only for comfort but also for safety during off-road adventures. Boots are the second most important protection item when considering riding gear. There’s a lot that can happen down there and many ADV riders will inevitably experience a drop (and they’re NOT light bikes)!

In this blog post, we explore five of the best off-road enduro and dual-sport boots to consider.

1. Alpinestars Tech 7 Enduro

The Alpinestars Tech 7 Enduro boots are renowned for their durability and comfort (it’s remarkable). These boots feature innovative buckle closure systems and extended microfiber gaiters, making them ideal for wet and muddy conditions. The TPU ankle guards offer additional protection, ensuring that your feet are well-shielded during rides. I’ll be outright honest- this is my current boot and I trust them. I wouldn’t trust much of anything lesser for a few reasons. In terms of rigidity and ankle protection, you’re pretty safe with Tech 7 and above. I would personally stray away from the waterproof variant if you ride often in an arid climate because your feet will become wet from the inside-out. Secondly, the price is great for what you receive. They feel and look twice of what they cost.

Alpinestars also have a variant of the Tech 3 for the ladies – the Stella! Check out the links at the bottom.

2. Gaerne SG-12

The Gaerne SG-12 boots are another excellent choice for off-road adventures. Known for their double-pivot system, these boots offer great foot and ankle support. The anti-shock sole and reinforced heel cup ensure enhanced stability, making them a favorite among professional riders. I’ve honestly strongly considered picking these up after trying them and love the SG-22s. A lot of customers swear by Gaerne and even replace the soles after being worn for a couple years to keep on wearing them to race day. They’re just a little more pricey than the Tech 7s.

3. Fox Racing Instinct Off-Road Boots

Fox Racing Instinct Off-Road boots are designed with a focus on performance and protection. These boots feature a unique hinge lockout system that prevents overextension of the ankle. The low-profile design ensures better control and comfort, even during long rides. I’ve noticed that Fox has two levels of riding boots and these are definitely on that next level.

4. Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex

For riders looking for a blend of adventure touring and casual off-road boots, the Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex is a top choice. These boots come with a Gore-Tex waterproof lining and rugged construction. The hinged ankle supports provide excellent flexibility while still maintaining robust protection for your feet*.

5. Forma Adventure Boots

Forma Adventure Boots are perfect for more casual enthusiasts who value comfort and functionality. Featuring a full-grain leather upper and Drytex waterproof liner, these boots provide excellent weather resistance. The anti-slip rubber sole and molded plastic protectors add to their durability, making them ideal for various terrains.

**I have to give a word of caution because I view these type of ‘adventure’ boots as more of a touring option and less of an ultra-duty off-road boot. If you don’t plan on hitting the woods or sand often, you may not have to worry as much about the unfortunate ankle injuries. Some riders don’t constantly treat their T7’s this way, so I included these last 2 options. As a very general rule of thumb, more buckles = more safety. Also, you don’t want to be able to bend a boot in half with your hands if you’re riding with them off-road. Though, I’ve often considered this exact boot after trying them on as there is no perfect do-all option. Sometimes, we decide to head into the next town over to buy loaf of bread when it happens to be nice outside and don’t want to feel like Iron-Man once we get there.
